    Laos Culture

    Laos has a rich history stretching for almost eight centuries. Despite its small population, Laos culture is very vibrant, comprised of of 49 different ethnic groups and tribes. With so many ethnicities, it is only usual that Laos has multiple languages spoken there. While Lao is the official Laos language, there are other language spoken too such as Lao-Tai, Mone-Khmer, Hmoung-Loumien and Tibeto-Chinese. Some foreign languages are widely understood as well like Thai, English and French. Buddhism permeates throughout all aspects of life in Laos, and it is also the official Laos religion.

    Laos currency is called a Kip, which is highly inflationary and useless outside of Laos. Cuisine in Laos is quite similar to Thai food, and most Laos food has spicy ingredients in it and is usually served with raw vegetables.
